Our staff will be knowledgeable, friendly, professional and commited to developing another generation of awesome people who play great baseball in our thriving East York and larger Toronto Community.
The instructors will all be Rep and Select level developed players, many who continue to play and/or instruct at a high level. They will create a fun and positive learning environment and provide great instruction, feedback and repetition opportunities for each camper and clinic participant.
We aim to have a good balance of position specific knowledge amongst the staff with current and former pitchers, outfielders, middle and corner infielders and a catching instructor.
We are always seeking the best instructors who can work most weeks of the summer. While we tend to retain most of our instructors because they are so good and like working in this environment, each year we hope to create new positions.
This year we will be looking for staff specialized in leading and teaching 4-5 year olds for the last 5 weeks of the summer for the On Deck Program. Experience with this age and patience is important. As well, we tend to need additional staff over the last 2-3 weeks as some staff need to launch for University and College time.
New again for 2024 will be the need for a couple of instructors to lead the junior and senior rep/select preparation for tryouts program over the last 2 weeks of the summer. These instructors should have lots of experience with the tryout process and be great communicators with its participants.
All staff must begin the process of becoming a certified baseball instructor through the National Canadian Coaching Program (NCCP) by achieving their online initiation course for sport and for baseball before our training day. Those interested in instructing in the Fall, Winter and Spring clinics must continue to complete the required courses (i.e., Absolutes and one of pitching, catching, hitting, base running, outfielding or infielding).
Staff are paid in accordance to their age and number of years of experience instructing. Wages start just above student minimum wage ($16/hr) and rise with age and each year of experience.
Applications for 2024 Summer Camp Instructor positions will be available by the end of January and hiring wil be complete by the beginning of April. We are looking for those who can especially work the last 2 weeks of the summer. Experience and maturity will be very important.
Those interested in working at the camp should email Andrew at pacebaseballcamp@gmail.com to state their level of interest, highest level played, position expertise and weeks they are able to commit to working at the camp. Relevant reliable references (i.e., former coaches/teammates) will be required for new candidates.
Instructors-in-Training
Instructors-in-Training will all be at minimum rep or select level knowledgeable 14-15 year old EY baseball players who are keen to work as part of a team to make each camper's experience awesome! They will support instructors in equipment organization, set up and clean up, as well as in the running of drills and other duties as assigned. Initiative, energy and a track record of working well with others are key characteristics we look for.
We will also be looking for ITs for the last 5 camp weeks to help the running of the On Deck Program for 4-6 year old campers. These ITs must be comfortable with engaging and creating fun with this age group while maintaining a safe environment.
ITs receive free hot catered lunch as well as community service hours towards completion of their high school diploma. References for future jobs are given upon request.
Hiring of ITs will be in March and April. Those interested in working at the camp should email Andrew at pacebaseballcamp@gmail.com to state their level of interest, highest level played, position expertise and weeks they are able to commit to working at the camp, why they want to volunteer and what they can bring to the camp to make it a great experience for the campers. Relevant reliable references (i.e., former coaches/teammates) will be required for those who have never been to this camp.
